THE FLOORING JOURNAL
Choosing materials for real life.
A beautiful floor has to suit the people and purpose of its room. Compare style with practical questions about maintenance, moisture exposure, subfloor condition, wear and the professional installation requirements.
CARPET GUIDE
Comfort, colour and construction.
When comparing carpets, consider the fibre, pile, density, room traffic, underlay and how the colour appears under your home’s lighting. Request a sample before committing to a large area.
Browse carpets ↗LVT GUIDE
Design freedom with the right preparation.
Luxury vinyl tile provides wood- and stone-inspired designs. The subfloor, adhesive system, product specification and layout affect installation. Herringbone and borders should be planned against the actual room.
Explore LVT ↗WOOD FLOORING GUIDE
Natural character, carefully considered.
Check the manufacturer’s requirements for humidity, subfloors, underfloor heating and aftercare. Compare plank proportions and finishes using samples in the intended room.

Your new-floor checklist.
Everyday use: Start with how you live or work in the space—footfall, family needs, pets, cleaning and the feel you want underfoot.
Existing floor: Condition, level, moisture and the chosen fixing method can affect preparation and installation. Ask about these requirements before committing to a final fitted price.
Style: Compare physical samples with your paint, furnishings and adjoining rooms. The same colour may look warmer or cooler in different light.
Details: Door thresholds, stairs, trims, underlay, skirting and the proposed laying pattern all affect the finished result.
Planning: Save products you like to a project, enter dimensions for an Instant Estimate and discuss any necessary professional measure with the Falkirk showroom.
