Stairrods UK: product and fitting guide

Stairrods (UK) supplies decorative and functional stair rods, trims, nosings and door-transition profiles. These accessories must fit the correct flooring thickness, junction height, staircase and fixing requirements.

Specify the accessory’s function first

The range spans door bars for carpet-to-carpet connections, stair nosings for hard flooring, LVT inlay profiles and decorative stair rods. A polished finish is not a substitute for the correct mechanical profile.

Record the two adjoining floor materials and total finished buildup, including underlay or adhesive, before choosing a door threshold.

Understand Ali Inlay and matching components

The FloorDesigns archive references Ali Inlay, stair-nosing products and carpet-to-carpet door bars. These are different categories with distinct profiles and fitting requirements.

Use the actual manufacturer’s drawing or template to determine the chosen profile’s groove, width, available length, fixing points and permissible floor thickness.

SPC and WPC nosings are size-specific

Stairrods’ Ali Bendybull and Ali Wrap WPC/SPC pages distinguish floors of different thicknesses and flush versus overlap applications. Certain products are intended for residential stairs, with restrictions on commercial use.

An overlap detail can be important where expansion is required. Read the manufacturer fitting page: a product may expressly prohibit bending an overlap variant.

Stair safety comes before the aesthetic finish

Check tread overhang, riser relationship, trip hazards, profile grip, edge sharpness and local use requirements before specifying a nosing. Decorative fittings must not reduce safe stair use.

Confirm that the existing stair substrate can accept the fixings and any appropriate adhesive. Do not cut away structural features or change riser geometry without a suitable design.

Plan quantities, finishes and labour

A staircase might require profiles at each tread, mitred returns, a specific length per piece and additional finishing at landings. Door bars also need cuts and junction details.

Quote the correct material, length, colour/finish, fixing accessories, floor preparation and installation labour rather than multiplying by stair count alone.

Retain installation evidence for repairs

Store the Stairrods product reference, thickness compatibility, fixing specification and supplier installation sheet with the customer order. Keep a photograph of special corners or shaped steps.

FloorDesigns can coordinate trims with LVT, carpet and wood installations. Confirm the current Stairrods product range and delivery terms before ordering.
