Amtico cleaning and care: a practical home guide
Plan everyday Amtico care, protect busy areas and find the right manufacturer instructions. Get practical help from FloorDesigns in Falkirk.

A simple routine for a floor you enjoy living with
Start with the instructions for your exact Amtico collection. Amtico advises removing loose grit with a dust mop and avoiding steam cleaning because intense heat can damage the flooring and adhesive. Use the recommended cleaning products and protect furniture contact points with suitable felt pads.
Build care into the room plan
Think about where people enter, where dining chairs move and where the dog comes in from the garden. A care routine is easier to maintain when the practical details are considered before fitting. Ask us to include suitable entrance protection and any recommended care products in your project conversation.
Keep a photograph of the product label alongside your invoice. If you need advice later, the collection and product code are more useful than a description such as “grey oak”.
Before trying a new treatment
For a mark you cannot identify, send us a clear photograph and tell us what has already been used. Avoid experimenting with several products at once. We can help you find the relevant manufacturer guidance for your floor.
Can I vacuum my Amtico floor?
Use a soft brush or dust mop for the regular removal of grit. The Amtico Wear and Care leaflet, page 4, names Signature, Spacia, Form, First and Click Smart. It advises dust mopping before any vacuuming and checking that sharp debris cannot become trapped against the floor.
Amtico’s cleaning FAQs discourage vacuuming, especially heavy upright machines, while its care webpage permits suitable hard-floor equipment with freely moving wheels and a clean base. That difference remains; the leaflet does not approve every appliance or every commercial Amtico system.
Record the equipment permitted for your floor on the care card. When that is uncertain, stay with the brush or dust-mop routine rather than test a machine on the installed floor.
Do I need stronger cleaner or a new surface treatment?
Amtico’s care page discourages vinegar and describes its own maintenance products. Do not turn that general page into a bleach recipe, an annual dressing schedule or approval for an unidentified floor finish.
For a persistent mark, ask for the exact product and method recommended for the identified collection. Keep a record of what has already been used. More treatment is not a substitute for understanding whether the concern is residue, a stain or physical damage.
Keep cleaning advice separate from a damage diagnosis
Record the collection, cleaner, equipment and first appearance of the concern. Send photographs of the detail and surrounding floor, and ask what information is needed for assessment. This guide does not establish the cause of a mark from a photograph or decide whether a warranty claim will be accepted.
The existing Amtico steam-cleaning answer remains the dedicated page for that question. Source expansion checked 4 October 2026.
