Altro safety flooring: cleaning and maintenance planning
A suitable routine needs the right cleaner, agitation, dirty-water removal and drying. Confirm the precise floor first: specialist variants can require different treatment.
Identify the flooring, not only the supplier
Use the product name and code from the schedule or packaging. Ask whether the installation includes a static-dissipative variant or a specialist wet-area floor. The cleaning method should identify which product it covers, not just say “vinyl”.
The manufacturer’s general sequence
For the named safety floors in its cleaning PDF, Altro describes removing loose dirt, applying the correctly diluted approved cleaner, scrubbing, recovering dirty water and rinsing. Mechanical cleaning uses suitable pads and wet-vacuum recovery. The dilution depends on the cleaner and soiling; a universal stronger-is-better recipe is not given here.

Important exceptions
The same PDF specifies brushes rather than pads or mops for Marine 20 and neutral cleaner for routine Walkway 20 SD maintenance. It warns that aggressive treatment or polish can affect static-dissipative properties. Metallised polish can reduce slip resistance. Do not add shine to a safety floor without an approved assessment of that change.

Organise the work around the building
Our suggested cleaning plan records who is responsible, the approved equipment, dilution instructions, contact time, rinse method and how the area stays out of use while wet. Build the schedule around actual contamination and traffic, with a separate response for unexpected spills.
Inspect cleaning equipment as part of the routine. A successful clean should remove soil and residue, not merely change where it lies. When the result is unsatisfactory, check the recorded method before substituting chemicals.
When a mark remains
Identify the contaminant, timing and products used. Keep photographs and ask for the named floor’s approved treatment. Do not assume a dark mark is wear or that a shiny patch can be repaired with a coating. The document’s edition and the proposed chemical safety information should be confirmed before an operational method is signed off.
Handover and review
Keep the final cleaning method with the product specification and guarantee record. Review it when the room’s use, equipment or cleaning contractor changes. This article is a planning guide, not a site-specific chemical method statement or a diagnosis of an installed floor.
