Causeway Carpets: product and fitting guide
Causeway Carpets presents different wool-blend and textured carpet choices. A meaningful comparison starts with the named range and fibre blend, then examines appearance, room use, width, stair suitability and the fully fitted price.
Compare Fine Velvet and Camberley by range
The manufacturer catalogue references Fine Velvet Aegean 22 with an 80% wool/20% nylon 6.6 blend. The recorded Camberley Classic and Camberley Textures Alpine Mist 31 examples are listed with 70% wool/30% recycled polyester.
These are distinct manufacturer examples, not blanket claims about all Causeway carpets. Confirm current specifications, actual pile, construction and warranty for the precise product you intend to order.
Assess texture and colour in your own light
A shade called Alpine Mist can look different in a textured versus flatter finish. Compare physical swatches from the exact colour and range, at the size needed to judge grain and pile direction.
Check the carpet next to walls, skirtings, furniture and the flooring on either side of the doorway. Photographing a sample is useful for a shortlist, but screen colours should not be the approval reference.
Decide where the carpet will go
A quiet bedroom, busy hallway and staircase place different demands on pile, resilience and grip. Check the manufacturer’s recommended use and whether the selected construction suits stairs or underfloor heating.
Where heating is involved, examine the combined carpet and underlay tog against the heating manufacturer’s limits. Fibre percentage on its own cannot establish thermal suitability.
Plan width, joins and stairs
Record each room’s dimensions, door positions, alcoves and the intended pile direction. Calculate carpet width requirements and joins before deciding the order quantity.
Stair turns and landings should be planned separately. If a cut from a room can sensibly be used elsewhere, the fitter must confirm the dimensions and orientation before claiming the saving.
Keep fitting components in the comparison
Two carpets at similar square-metre prices may have different total fitted costs if they use different widths, underlays, preparation or accessory requirements.
An itemised quote should show carpet quantity, underlay, gripper, door bars, uplift/disposal where needed, fitting and VAT. Discuss minimum fitting charges where the work is a small room or stairs only.
Use the correct care and warranty terms
A wool-blend carpet should be cleaned according to the named product’s guidance. Do not treat a wool carpet as bleach-cleanable because an unrelated synthetic carpet carries that claim.
Ask for current warranty terms and keep the invoice, product reference, installation date and care details. FloorDesigns can help match the samples and quotation to the intended room.
