iSense: product and fitting guide
iSense carpets by Associated Weavers focus on soft, luxurious polyamide carpet textures. The ranges Suspense, Obsession and Subtlety illustrate why pile construction, measured density, room use and underlay must accompany a sample-led choice.
Choose the right iSense collection
The manufacturer research archive identifies Suspense 03 Ermine, Obsession 03 Ermine and Subtlety 09 Platina. They are different ranges, even where the colour name is similar, so inspect the exact sample and published product sheet.
Review softness together with pile resilience and traffic classification. A luxurious bedroom carpet is not automatically the correct choice for a heavily used staircase or a commercial entrance.
See what Suspense 03 actually specifies
Associated Weavers lists Suspense 03 with a 100% polyamide (nylon) pile, Saxony texture, FusionBac backing, 4 m and 5 m widths, 18 mm pile height and a carpet tog rating of 2.15.
The manufacturer lists intensive domestic room uses including living, dining, entrance and hallway for this reference, plus some light commercial rooms. These are not general statements about every Obsession or Subtlety variant.
Inspect the pile and lighting
A tall Saxony carpet can show different shading as the pile changes direction and can reveal furniture marks and footprints differently from a tightly textured carpet. Consider this natural appearance when choosing a pale neutral.
Try the sample flat and upright, under window light and artificial lighting. Colour, warmth and lustre may vary between catalogue photography and installed conditions.
Plan material quantities and room transitions
Measure usable widths, alcoves, stairs, landings and door positions before taking off material. The available 4 m or 5 m format can change the number of joins and how much offcut is left over.
A thick carpet may also affect door clearance and transitions to wood or LVT. Allow for compatible underlay and the fitting approach required by the selected product.
Check underfloor heating and regular care
Suspense 03’s stated carpet tog is 2.15; combining it with underlay may exceed the maximum allowed by some heating systems. Ask for the complete floor assembly’s thermal resistance before fitting.
Even high-quality nylon pile needs appropriate vacuuming and spill-treatment methods. Avoid claiming bleach-cleanability or steam suitability without exact instructions.
Compare lifetime value, not only softness
A high-end carpet should be judged by room-specific performance, sample appearance, cleaning needs, warranty terms and total fitted price. Include underlay, gripper, threshold profiles and stair labour.
