Brintons Residential: product and fitting guide
Brintons residential carpets offer different colours, patterns and textures. Choose the precise design and specification, then plan how its width, repeat and care requirements work in your home.
Choose colour, texture and pattern together
Shortlist the design alongside the way the room is used. Look at a sample in daylight and evening light, next to paint, furniture and adjoining floors. Think about the scale of a pattern in the whole room rather than choosing only from a small swatch.
Record the full product name and reference so the measured quote identifies the same carpet you assessed. Ask for a larger sample or layout discussion where the pattern is central to the scheme.
A specific example: Bazaar Red Broadloom
The manufacturer’s Bazaar Red Broadloom page, reference 1/30368, identifies woven Axminster construction, 80% wool / 20% nylon pile, a 4 m width and a tog of 2.03. Its listed pattern repeats are 1 m down and across.
Use those figures only for that product. Compare a different Brintons carpet against its own fibre, construction, width and repeat information; a similar colour is not evidence of the same specification.
Measure the pattern and joins
A patterned carpet requires an agreed direction and matching plan. Ask where the design will begin, where joins will fall and how it will meet a doorway or stairs. The final measured quantity needs to reflect that layout and the chosen width.
For stairs, include the flight, landing, turns and winders and confirm suitability for the exact carpet. Compare fitted quotations for the same product and layout, with underlay, preparation and finishing details identified.
Underfloor heating: include the underlay
Brintons recommends providing the combined carpet and underlay tog information to the heating manufacturer, because systems can specify different maximum values. The carpet’s own tog is not the complete calculation.
Ask the fitter to identify the proposed underlay and fitting method. Give both sets of information to the heating supplier and obtain agreement to the complete system before ordering.
Care for wool-rich carpet correctly
Brintons advises prompt vacuuming after installation and blotting spills rather than rubbing. Its care guidance distinguishes cleaning approaches and recommends suitable specialist support for wool carpets. Follow the instructions applicable to the installed product.
Do not transfer a bleach-cleaning method from a synthetic carpet to wool-rich flooring. For a stubborn mark, identify the spill and any previous treatment before seeking advice so the next step is appropriate.
Confirm cover and the finished cost
Ask for the warranty terms applying to the selected product and use, and retain the invoice and fitting record. Check installation and maintenance conditions rather than assuming all changes in appearance are covered.
The measured quotation should identify the exact design, quantity, underlay, preparation, fitting and finishing work. FloorDesigns will confirm current availability and price for that specification before an order is placed.
