Gaia: product and fitting guide
Gaia is a carpet brand in the Associated Weavers portfolio, with named ranges such as Indus, Dorado and Sarno. Its soft polyester-based textures require product-specific decisions about colour, pile, location, underlay and cleaning.
Identify the Gaia range, not just the brand
Associated Weavers’ Gaia listing includes Indus, Dorado, Sarno and other ranges. The FloorDesigns examples cover Indus 27 Sage Green, Dorado 27 Sage Green and Sarno 30 Pure.
Confirm the precise range and colour because pile structure, available width, height and performance can differ. The manufacturer’s catalogue lists filters for loop and textured pile and room use.
Understand the fibre and backing information
Gaia marketing describes a polyester pile with smooth touch and rich colour. The manufacturer also identifies ECO FusionBac as a backing made using recycled PET plastic bottles in its brand materials.
Read the exact current product sheet rather than assuming identical composition or sustainability claims for every historical Gaia product. The pile and backing are separate parts of the carpet.
Assess the room and the way it is used
A soft carpet can be attractive in bedrooms and lounges, but busy hallways and stairs place different demands on the pile. Check manufacturer room recommendations for the selected Gaia range.
Evaluate colour changes from daylight and artificial light and how loop or frisé texture changes appearance. A colour family alone does not establish suitability for pets, stairs or high footfall.
Measure width, joins and underlay
Gaia’s catalogue supports product filtering by widths, including 4 m and 5 m in listed examples. The available format must be confirmed for the exact colour, not assumed from the brand listing.
Measure real room geometry, seam locations, pile direction and stair turns before calculating material. Choose underlay consistent with the named carpet and any underfloor-heating limits.
Follow precise cleaning instructions
Associated Weavers promotes bleach-cleanable Gaia carpet, but even where a carpet is marketed as bleach cleanable, the required method and concentration should be checked against current instructions.
Test spill treatment against the exact warranty and care document. Avoid applying techniques intended for wool or unrelated carpet fibres, and maintain regular appropriate vacuuming.
Retain the details for future replacement
Record range, shade code, batch where available, width, purchased quantity, fitting record and applicable care and warranty documents. This helps when arranging repairs or adding carpet to another room.
