Asiatic: rug buying and care guide

Choose an Asiatic rug by its size, fibre and construction as well as its design. A rug that looks right in a photograph still needs to work with your furniture, floor and care routine.

Choose the size from the furniture plan

Make a room sketch with the furniture and the proposed rug outline. Decide which furniture legs should sit on it and measure the clear walking routes. Mark the dimensions on the floor with removable tape to compare proportions before ordering. For a dining table, include the space occupied when chairs are pulled out.

Check door clearance and whether a rug edge will sit in a busy route. A bedroom rug and a dining-room rug are different projects: the best size comes from the layout rather than the room area alone.

Compare the exact fibre and variant

The current Aston Copper listing identifies 100% viscose pile and shows a 120 × 170 cm variant, reference ASTO120170COPP. Confirm the exact size and current supply with FloorDesigns before ordering. Another Aston colour’s options do not establish availability for this rug.

View the colour and texture in the intended light. Note the product name, size and reference on your shortlist so the quotation identifies one precise variant. Ask about sample options if the finish is central to the scheme.

Choose a suitable placement and pad

Think about where spills, chair movement and frequent foot traffic will occur. Ask whether the selected material and pile are appropriate for that use. A decorative rug in a quiet bedroom does not need the same practical assessment as a rug beside an entrance.

Choose a pad suitable for the rug and the underlying flooring. Check the pad’s compatibility with your floor finish and any heating requirements; ask for advice where the floor manufacturer limits coverings or rubber-backed products.

Plan routine care

Asiatic’s care page recommends suction vacuuming, a non-slip pad and prompt blotting of spills. Avoid rubbing a spill into the pile. For stubborn marks, seek advice suitable for the particular fibre rather than trying a succession of household treatments.

Follow the rug’s own label. A machine-washable collection does not make every Asiatic rug washable. Check the label’s washing and drying instructions before introducing water, detergents or heat.

Check the delivery and keep the product record

Confirm the exact size, current availability, quoted price and delivery arrangements before ordering. Think about access through doors and where a larger rolled rug can be unpacked safely. Inspect the product against the order when it arrives and report a problem promptly to FloorDesigns.

Keep the invoice, label and care information. If a mark or defect develops, identify the rug, describe what happened and provide photographs. Ask for the applicable cover and retailer’s process rather than assuming every collection has an identical warranty.
