FLOORDESIGNS / AMTICO GUIDE

Amtico installation: planning preparation, layout and fitting

Understand what to discuss before Amtico fitting: subfloor preparation, laying pattern, room access and the complete project estimate.

Start beneath the surface

Amtico says gluedown flooring needs a level, dry and clean base. Click Smart uses a different fitting system. Ask the installer to assess the existing floor and specify preparation for the chosen product before you commit to an installation date.

Choose the layout as well as the colour

Bring photographs of doorways, adjoining rooms, kitchen units and fireplaces. These help us discuss where a pattern starts, how it meets another floor and which edges deserve particular attention. For a border or decorative layout, agree the drawing before materials are ordered.

Ask for a complete project estimate

Compare quotations on the same scope. Identify the flooring, preparation, fitting, trims and any agreed removal work separately. Ask how the measured area and chosen pattern affect the quantity required. A price per square metre alone does not describe a finished room.

Does the chosen Amtico floor need underlay?

Click Smart has integrated underlay. Amtico’s installation FAQs describe gluedown flooring separately. Ask for the complete build-up, including any specifically approved acoustic system, rather than adding a loose underlay by default.

Write the purpose of each layer into the quotation. Preparation, adhesive and underlay are not interchangeable words. An extra component should be justified by the applicable system instructions, not by how another floor was fitted.

Can every collection go in the same room?

The residential installation FAQs specifically exclude Click Smart from conservatories, while discussing suitable gluedown collections and adhesive selection separately. Do not generalise one collection’s room advice to the whole brand.

Describe the actual room conditions, not just its name. Include large glazed areas, heating or cooling, connected rooms and any recent building work. Ask the installer to confirm the product and system against that brief before materials are committed.

Turn the fitting proposal into a checkable record

Ask which document governs acclimatisation, when room conditions must be maintained, what substrate checks are required and when furniture and cleaning may resume. Record the answers with the selected product and adhesive. This consumer guide does not substitute a single universal temperature, waiting time or moisture figure for the complete installation instructions.

Plan the fitting day

  • Agree who moves furniture and which rooms must be clear.
  • Discuss access, delivery and where materials can be stored.
  • Tell the installer about underfloor heating and any recent building work.
  • Confirm when the room can be used and furniture returned.

Keep the project record

Save the selected product code, agreed layout, estimate and handover instructions together. Photograph the finished details while the room is clear. This gives you a useful reference for future decorating and maintenance questions.
