FLOORDESIGNS / PRODUCT GUIDES

ELKA Flooring: product and fitting guide

ELKA’s range includes engineered real wood, laminate and luxury vinyl flooring. These systems may achieve similar timber-look interiors, but differ in construction, subfloor requirements, installation and long-term care.

Decide between real wood, laminate and vinyl

An engineered-wood floor has genuine wood at its surface, while laminate and luxury vinyl use different manufactured constructions. Select according to the room’s moisture exposure, traffic, intended look and the building’s conditions.

ELKA’s technical library separates LVT, engineered flooring and other product systems. A warranty or installation guide for one construction must not be used to approve another.

Review exact boards and installation method

Look beyond an oak colour name. Check plank or tile dimensions, total thickness, joint type, finish and any integrated underlay. If you want herringbone, confirm the precise format before planning the installation.

The ELKA technical centre contains separate LVT data sheets and herringbone installation information. Use the edition applicable to the exact SKU.

Get the subfloor right

Before installation, assess moisture, flatness, structural stability and existing coverings. Different floor types have different preparation, adhesive or floating-installation rules, and the best-looking plank will not correct a defective substrate.

Ask the fitter to record moisture readings where required and to allow for door clearance, thresholds, perimeter movement and any levelling.

Understand moisture and heating limits

Engineered wood, laminate and LVT may have different tolerances to water, heating cycles and temperature change. Use the manufacturer guidance for the selected floor and the heating supplier’s commissioning instructions.

Do not assume a floor is suitable for every bathroom or conservatory because another ELKA range is promoted for that use.

Calculate boxes, waste and finishings

Measure each area, show the layout direction and calculate required whole packs using the chosen product’s coverage. Herringbone patterns and multiple small rooms can increase cuts and offcuts.

Include trim profiles, transitions, preparation, suitable underlay/adhesive, labour and delivery to compare the complete price rather than just the board cost.

Keep care, warranty and delivery evidence

Save the exact SKU, colour, order quantities, fitting guide edition, cleaning document and applicable warranty terms. Check restrictions before using steam cleaners, polish or wet-mopping.

FloorDesigns Falkirk can help select suitable materials and prepare an accurate estimate, but the selected product’s current technical sheet and availability are final reference points.
