Sedna: product and fitting guide
Sedna is an Associated Weavers carpet family using ECONYL regenerated-nylon yarn and recycled-material backing, with ranges such as Varuna and Oshun. Its sustainability information must be assessed alongside actual floor suitability and customer needs.
Where recycled material is used
Associated Weavers describes Sedna’s ECONYL regenerated nylon yarn and ECO FusionBac backing using recycled PET material. The manufacturer publishes dated recycled-content figures that vary by range.
Keep the manufacturer’s source date with sustainability claims; do not assume an old percentage is valid across all colourways or new production.
Varuna and Oshun are different collections
FloorDesigns research records Varuna 03 and Oshun 16 as named carpet examples. The manufacturer’s Sedna description identifies Oshun as a deep, exceptionally soft pile option.
Compare actual construction, pile height and traffic suitability before choosing a large living room or bedroom floor.
Environmental labels are not wear classifications
Recycled nylon content does not automatically prove stronger wear, improved cleaning or suitability for stairs. Check the exact carpet’s published technical and use information.
A valid product recommendation compares colour, performance, price and household demands independently of the marketing sustainability claim.
Measure widths and piling direction
Use the range’s actual roll width and room shape to plan seams and purchased material. A deep or directional pile can change how surface shade looks across joins.
Confirm carpet/underlay support and thresholds. Use a stair take-off for winders and landings instead of a flat square-metre calculation.
Check heating, care and warranty
Underfloor heating requires the combined carpet and underlay tog to be within the heating-system specification. Do not infer compatibility from the regenerated yarn name.
Obtain named-range cleaning directions before advising on steam, bleach or heavy cleaning. Retain applicable warranty details and restrictions.
Price the fitted floor honestly
Include purchased roll quantities, useful offcuts, underlay, gripper, removal, fitter labour and VAT. Compare whole-job value rather than only square-metre selling price.
