Woodpecker: product and fitting guide
Compare the exact engineered-wood board, finish and format, then plan fitting, heating and care around the room where it will be used.
Start with the construction
Woodpecker’s engineered wood collections use a real-wood surface over a layered core. The collection directory includes Harlech, Goodrich, Highclere, Chepstow and Berkeley. A collection name gives you a starting point; it does not tell you the specification of every board sold under that name.
Choose the exact finish and product code before comparing quotations. Record board dimensions, the wear layer, overall thickness and joint system from that product’s current documents. Those details affect the finished level, installation plan and future maintenance.
Compare Harlech formats using the exact product
The manufacturer’s Harlech Rustic Oak listing brings together several plank and herringbone formats and both oiled and lacquered options. A photograph of the same oak colour can therefore lead to different boards and care routines.
Compare physical samples in the room’s daylight and evening lighting. Check the finish beside your skirting, furniture and adjoining floor. Agree which product code appears on the order rather than relying on “rustic oak” alone.
Plan the layout and purchased quantity
Decide where the first rows or pattern will start, how the floor meets doorways and what happens at stairs and changes of level. Herringbone and chevron layouts need a cutting plan that reflects the actual room.
Woodpecker presents 10% as a starting allowance for wastage and notes that patterned layouts may need more. Have the installer calculate the order from the chosen board, pattern and room shape; a blanket percentage is not a measured quotation.
Resolve fitting and heating before ordering
Ask the installer to assess the substrate and room conditions and identify the selected product’s installation instructions. The fitting plan should specify the approved method, any underlay or adhesive, expansion detailing and preparation work.
For underfloor heating, confirm that the exact board and installation system are approved together. Obtain the applicable commissioning and operating instructions before fitting. A general engineered-wood label cannot settle the heating specification.
Match cleaning to the finish
Woodpecker’s care advice distinguishes between oiled and lacquered floors. Choose the care product for your actual finish and follow its directions. Where a damp mop is permitted, wring it thoroughly; do not soak the floor.
Include a maintenance handover in the fitting plan. Keep a record of the installed product and finish so a future owner or cleaner can choose the right routine.
Keep the quotation and warranty records together
A useful quotation identifies the product code, ordered quantity, preparation, fixing materials, trims, labour and VAT. Agree how uplift, access and furniture movement will be handled.
Woodpecker offers different warranty terms for different flooring families. Check the applicable product and purchase-date terms rather than assuming one headline period covers every floor. Keep the purchase and installation details needed for registration with your order records.
