AW collection / Associated Weavers: product and fitting guide

The AW collection refers to Associated Weavers. Compare its carpet families through the specification of the exact range and colour, then plan the underlay, fitting and care for that carpet.

Understand the AW name

Associated Weavers uses several collection names, including Invictus, iSense, Gaia, Sedna and Vivendi. Treat these as ways to find products, then check the precise range and colour. A family name does not establish the same fibre, backing or suitability for every carpet.

Start with two or three samples and compare them under the room’s daylight and evening lighting. Assess pile appearance and feel alongside the practical demands of the room. A hallway, stairs and a bedroom may call for different priorities.

A concrete comparison: Tribeca 05

The UK Tribeca 05 Clotted Cream listing identifies 100% polypropylene frisé pile, FusionBac backing and 4 m and 5 m widths. The published tog is 1.700. These details apply to that colour and product; use its technical sheet with the sample.

Record the range, colour, width and product reference on the quotation. If another carpet feels similar, compare the same technical fields rather than assuming softness means the specifications are equivalent.

Plan joins and the whole fitted quantity

Show the fitter the full room shape, doors and adjoining spaces. Ask how the selected width will be used, where a join would sit and which way the pile will run. For stairs, include the flight, landing, turns and finishing details.

The floor area alone may not describe the amount of carpet to order. Ask for the measured layout and a quotation that identifies carpet, underlay, preparation, fitting and thresholds separately.

Assess heating with the underlay included

For an underfloor-heated room, obtain the exact carpet tog and the proposed underlay tog. Assess the combined resistance against the heating supplier’s requirements, together with the fitting method.

A carpet’s own tog is one input to that decision. Give both documents to the installer and heating supplier before confirming the order; do not apply a brand-wide heating approval.

Use the care routine for the selected carpet

Ask for the current vacuuming, spot-cleaning and maintenance instructions for the range. Fibre and pile affect what is appropriate. Do not transfer a bleach-cleaning claim or a cleaning dilution from another collection without an exact manufacturer instruction.

Agree a realistic routine for entrances, pets and spills. Keep the product identity accessible so that advice after fitting can be matched to the installed carpet rather than a similar-looking sample.

Retain the warranty and installation record

Confirm the cover applying to the exact product and domestic or commercial use. Ask what wear and stain claims mean, what conditions apply and what evidence is needed if a problem arises.

Keep the invoice, product and colour code, relevant documents and fitting details. FloorDesigns will confirm current availability and price for the chosen carpet before the measured order is placed.
