Abingdon carpet care and warranty: what the cover means
A stain guarantee and a wear warranty answer different questions. Identify your carpet and keep the right records before treating a problem or relying on a headline.
Keep stain cover separate from wear cover
Abingdon’s warranty overview presents individual wear warranties separately from the Stainfree and Love Story lifetime stain offer. A warranty term is not an assurance that appearance, softness or every type of damage will remain unchanged.

What the wear document actually addresses
The linked wear-warranty PDF defines wear as pile worn through to the backing, with roughly a 10 cm diameter area visible. It excludes ordinary changes in surface appearance, limits the warranty to normal single-family domestic use and the original user, and says it is not transferable. Its maintenance conditions include at least weekly vacuuming and a documented professional clean at least every two years. Match those terms to the actual purchase rather than assuming the filename supplies the applicable edition.

What to check for Stainfree for Life
The stain-offer page describes common household stains and single-family indoor domestic use. It calls for registration, proof of purchase, qualified fitting, a retained offcut, routine cleaning and professional cleaning every two years. This is not proof that any particular claim will be accepted or that a commercial installation has the same cover.

Make a usable care record
Our suggested record has four parts: product identification; the cleaning instructions supplied; dated professional-cleaning receipts; and a short history of any concern. Keep the cleaner’s name and method, not only a note saying “cleaned”. When reporting a problem, separate a spill, pile shading, flattening and worn-through material instead of treating them as the same event.
Photograph the area and wider room before further treatment. Note what was spilled, when it happened and what has already been applied. Do not cut out, recolour or replace the affected area before discussing the proposed assessment.
Before accepting a remedy
Ask who will inspect, what evidence is needed and what costs the proposed remedy includes. Product replacement, fitting work and unrelated damage should not be combined into one assumed promise. No universal wear period or commercial entitlement is assigned by this guide.
