COREtec: product and fitting guide
COREtec offers multi-layer click luxury-vinyl flooring, including the Authentics family. Confirm the specific model, construction, plank size, integrated backing and the manufacturer’s installation details before estimating an entire room.
Distinguish designs within COREtec Authentics
The referenced UK listings include Alberta (Authentics 1200 2V E), Alto (Authentics 1200 4V E) and Calgary (Authentics 1200 MB E). Similar wood-look surfaces can have different edge detailing or identifiers even within the same family.
Record the product reference and order samples before approval. Manufacturer visualisations are useful, but a room sample and accurate colour/texture assessment are still essential.
Read the exact construction and backing
The published Alto and Calgary references describe the Sound Core construction, 8 mm total thickness and attached cork backing. Those values belong to those named listings and must not be imposed on every COREtec range.
Check whether additional underlay is permitted or unnecessary for the intended product. An unapproved second underlay may compromise the locking system or manufacturer conditions.
Waterproof material is not waterproof building fabric
COREtec markets selected Authentics floors as waterproof, but water-resistant planks do not remove the need to manage moisture in the substrate, leaks, perimeter detailing and wet-area installation instructions.
Assess the room and subfloor before fitting, particularly in kitchens and high-moisture areas. Follow the product’s published moisture and expansion requirements rather than relying on a single marketing icon.
Use the named product’s installation documentation
COREtec provides separate care, underfloor-heating, flooring, stairs and warranty resources on product pages. Read those documents in conjunction with the exact floor and current UK guidance.
The fitter should inspect flatness, substrate condition, expansion details, doorways, thresholds, fixed units and heating temperatures. Herringbone and stair installation require their own planning.
Calculate the packs and accessories correctly
Use the manufacturer-stated coverage per box for the selected variant, then calculate layout waste, whole-box purchase quantities and finishing materials. Alto and Calgary currently show 2.65 m² per box on their referenced manufacturer pages.
A room’s finished area is not the same as the quantity invoiced in packs. Ask for an itemised quote including preparation, trims, fitting and any permitted acoustic components.
Keep evidence for long-term maintenance
Retain the exact product reference, layout, installation guidance edition, care instructions and guarantee terms. For furniture, chairs and cleaning, use the specified protective and maintenance products.
FloorDesigns Falkirk can help compare COREtec floors and plan the installation. Availability, delivery, final cost and guarantee eligibility must be confirmed for the selected SKU.
