FLOORDESIGNS / FLOORING COMPARISON

Glue-down vs click LVT: what should you compare?

The right choice depends on the product and the room. Glue-down and click describe installation approaches; they do not provide a complete quality rating or tell you the total fitted cost.

Check the exact product

Amtico’s Click Smart page describes a click-locking system without adhesive. Other Amtico collections, including Signature, Form and Spacia, use glue-down installation. Karndean also publishes separate installation guides for gluedown and rigid core products.

These examples show why a brand-level comparison is insufficient. Put the range, product code and installation format on each option before comparing it.

Ask about preparation before comparing prices

Give the fitter photographs and details of the existing floor. Ask what assessment and preparation the proposed product needs, how thresholds will be finished and how the work fits your timetable. Where underfloor heating is present, request confirmation against the selected flooring instructions.

A useful price comparison uses the same room and agreed scope. Ask for preparation, fitting, trims and other necessary work to be shown clearly. A product-only price cannot settle the comparison for an entire fitted project.

Make the choice with a shortlist

Choose two or three products you like, obtain samples and discuss the installation requirements. Record why each option suits the brief and any question that remains open.

FloorDesigns does not assign a universal winner or an unsupported star score here. The next step is a product-specific comparison and a quotation based on your project.
