Furlong Flooring: product and fitting guide
Furlong Flooring’s carpet range covers durable twist, heathered and soft Saxony choices. The right floor for a bedroom or hallway depends on the range’s actual pile, fibre, width, care and fitting requirements.
Compare twist with deep Saxony
Furlong’s catalogue lists Essential Twist & Saxony, Trident Plains & Heathers and Bliss & Bliss Comfort among its ranges. The manufacturer describes Bliss as a deep, soft Saxony made from 100% polypropylene.
A deeper pile may feel luxurious in a bedroom, whereas a twist finish can offer a different appearance and resilience under everyday traffic. Check the named range’s suitability and sample rather than generalising about all polypropylene carpets.
Match style to daily traffic
Ask how many people use the room, whether there are pets or children, and whether furniture or a desk chair will place concentrated wear on the pile. An open staircase, corridor and bedroom may justify different selections.
Compare physical swatches in daylight and at night. Pile direction and shade will affect the finished look, especially across connected rooms.
Check width, backing and underlay
Furlong lists different backing options and roll constructions. A carpet’s backing and the proposed underlay influence fitting and the overall installed system.
Measure actual room shapes and joins. If the carpet is intended for underfloor heating, compare both material and underlay tog against the heating supplier’s limit.
Include stairs and transitions
A stair carpet needs its own suitability check, measurement and fitting price. Draw winders, bullnose details, landings and thresholds rather than estimating it solely from square metres.
Door bars, grippers and matching other rooms should be included in the plan. Short hallway sections can require a minimum attendance fee even where the carpet quantity is small.
Separate material cost from fitted cost
Calculate the purchased widths and cuts, underlay, accessories, removal/disposal where needed, labour and VAT. Two similar carpet prices can lead to different fitted totals when offcuts and stairs are considered.
A current supplier price or marketing offer is not a fixed FloorDesigns estimate. Confirm the actual design, stock and fitting programme.
Use the range-specific care rules
Furlong markets particular polypropylene carpets with easy-care features, but any permitted bleach dilution, stain treatment and warranty cover should come from the named product’s instructions.
Keep the precise range, colour, care sheet, invoice and installation record. If the project changes from supply-only to supply-and-fit, revise the written scope.
