Canopy: product and fitting guide

Canopy’s current UK range spans engineered wood, SPC luxury vinyl flooring and patterned layouts. The key decision is not simply the oak shade: different constructions need different fitting methods, preparation and maintenance.

Choose the construction before the colour

Canopy sells engineered wood and SPC luxury vinyl floors, including straight planks and herringbone formats. Natural wood has a different structure and response to moisture from rigid vinyl flooring; select the system that suits the intended room and conditions.

Record manufacturer, exact product and reference rather than assuming two oak-effect products have interchangeable cleaning, fitting or warranty rules.

Herringbone changes the quantity and fitting cost

Canopy’s Camber Oak SPC LVT example is a click-together herringbone product. Its manufacturer listing provides precise plank dimensions, pack coverage and installation information; the same values must not be assumed for every Canopy herringbone.

Herringbone requires more perimeter cutting and directional planning than many straight-plank layouts. Measure the actual shape, decide the starting point and calculate full pack requirements before quoting.

Use the correct installation guide

Canopy publishes different guides for real wood, chevron, parquet, SPC plank, SPC parquet, laminate and glue-down LVT. This separation matters: preparation, underlay, adhesive and movement requirements can differ significantly.

Identify the exact installation category before work starts. Check subfloor moisture, flatness, heating-system compatibility, thresholds and the manufacturer’s stated conditions.

Compare the complete installed price

The useful comparison is the whole project: product packs, relevant underlay or adhesive, floor preparation, trims, fitting labour, waste and delivery. A cheaper material may not create a cheaper finished floor.

Where multiple rooms connect, plan plank direction, expansion details and doorways at the outset. Keep the area and pack-rounding assumptions visible in the estimate.

Care depends on wood versus vinyl

Use the exact wood-floor finish and compatible care products for an engineered-wood selection. For SPC or glue-down vinyl, follow the applicable manufacturer cleaning instructions rather than treating every product as the same waterproof system.

Standing water, abrasion, unsuitable steam cleaning and poor entrance protection can create avoidable problems. Confirm care restrictions and any documented guarantees for the specific product.

Check UK availability and fulfilment

Record the exact SKU, colour, product size, packs required, delivery address and intended fitting date. Supplier ordering arrangements and present stock are separate from the existence of a manufacturer catalogue page.

FloorDesigns can advise on the appropriate choice and whether the order is supply-only or requires a measured installation. Nothing on this guide constitutes a live quotation or guaranteed delivery date.
