Meet the collection

A floor is part of the whole room.

An expressive approach to carpets and natural flooring: use texture, pattern and a well-chosen edge to make the floor part of your interior scheme.

Bring your room photographs, approximate dimensions and colour ideas to the conversation. We will help you compare the choices, then confirm the details of the selected product and what the project needs.

Explore Alternative Flooring with FloorDesigns in Falkirk. Start with a shortlist, compare samples in the room and ask the showroom about your preferred flooring before making a final decision.

Explore Alternative Flooring range examples

The FloorDesigns manufacturer research archive records the following named range examples. These are reference products, not a statement of today’s stock, available colours, prices or suitability.

Choosing a suitable Alternative Flooring product

For natural fibres, compare the exact weave, backing, available width and written cleaning guidance. Natural carpets and rugs do not all permit the same cleaning methods.

Ask FloorDesigns to confirm the current product details, technical documents, availability and installation requirements before ordering. The examples above were recorded in the October 2026 research material and may change. For broader installation and maintenance answers, see our flooring Q&A.

Named examples for your shortlist

Two wool carpets show why a range name alone is not enough. Wool Tweed Torridon 1664 is listed by Alternative Flooring as blue, tufted 100% wool with a recycled PET backing and 4 m or 5 m widths, each with the manufacturer’s ±1.5% tolerance. Margo Selby Stripe Frolic Pegwell 1922 is a red 100% wool tufted carpet with woven polypropylene backing, a 4 m width with the same stated tolerance and a 16.70 cm pattern repeat.

Ask the fitter to consider the width and, for Pegwell, the stripe repeat when planning joins and quantities. These are details for the two named colours. They do not establish the fitting, care or suitability of every wool or natural carpet. Manufacturer product pages recorded 8 October 2026.

A material-led shortlist

Compare wool with sisal or seagrass as different choices. Think about spills, pets, bare feet and how the room will be cleaned. For a stair runner, establish the exact product’s stair suitability before choosing binding, borders or accessories.

Pattern changes the measuring plan

A striped or patterned carpet needs a deliberate layout through doors and around a staircase. Pegwell’s published 16.70 cm repeat is one product-specific example. Ask for the repeat, direction and matching allowance for your selected design; they affect how much carpet is needed.

Agree the aftercare routine

Plant fibres need their own care instructions. Discuss realistic cleaning before ordering a natural floor, particularly in a room where liquid spills are likely. Keep the selected product’s fitting and care guidance with your quotation.

Good questions

Alternative Flooring, explained.

What matters when choosing Alternative Flooring wool or sisal?

Compare material, weave, backing, intended room and care requirements. A similar colour does not guarantee identical performance.

How do Alternative Flooring natural materials differ?

Compare the exact fibre, weave, backing, texture and installation dimensions. Wool, sisal, seagrass and other fibres may have different performance and care requirements.

Can natural-fibre carpet from Alternative Flooring be steam cleaned?

Do not assume it can. Plant-fibre materials can be sensitive to moisture, so check the precise manufacturer's instructions before using water, steam or extraction equipment.

Is every Alternative Flooring natural carpet suitable for stairs?

Not automatically. Check the manufacturer’s approval for the named product, the weave, backing and the proposed stair-fitting method.

What belongs in the full Alternative Flooring floor quotation?

Include confirmed product and width, layout, joins, accessories, underlay where specified, preparation and specialist fitting. Compare costs for the same scope.
