Can you wet-clean or steam-clean sisal carpet?
For Alternative Flooring sisal, do not use water or steam extraction. Identify the exact floor and use the manufacturer’s natural-fibre care instructions.
Why ordinary carpet-washing advice is not enough
Alternative explains that sisal is absorbent and advises against water or steam cleaning. Its care instructions specify suction-only vacuuming for natural plant and delicate fibres, rather than continuous brushing.

What should happen after a spill?
Use the material-specific instructions. Do not improvise a rinse or extraction treatment from guidance written for wool or synthetic carpet. The safest next step for an unidentified stain is to collect the product code, spill details and a photograph before choosing a treatment.
A “dry” cleaning kit still has instructions and limits. Read the current label, including suitability for the fibre and any border. Do not leave a cleaning compound indefinitely or assume more product will remove a mark more effectively.
Does stain protection make it waterproof?
No such permission is established by the sources used here. Keep the product’s care instructions separate from any optional protection claim. Ask for the identified carpet’s approved response, not a guarantee that every spill can be reversed.
