Does Moduleo LayRed need an extra underlay?

No. LayRed has integrated underlay. Moduleo’s rigid-vinyl instructions prohibit a second underlay beneath a product that already has one attached.

What does the manufacturer say?

The LayRed collection page describes its integrated underlay. The rigid installation guide, version 07.2026, page 2 explicitly rules out an additional underlay for attached-underlay vinyl. That is the relevant instruction—not a generic recommendation for laminate or carpet.

Before ordering, check that the product supplied is the exact LayRed format on your quotation. An accessory described as “extra cushioning” does not become compatible simply because it is sold alongside flooring.

What if the existing floor is uneven?

The integrated layer does not cancel the base requirements. Moduleo still calls for a stable, flat, clean and permanently dry subfloor. Rigid guide, page 2.

Our planning advice is to ask the installer to identify the defect and the proposed preparation. Do not use an extra underlay as a substitute for that assessment. Keep the survey and agreed remedy with the quotation.

Why does another Moduleo product mention underlay?

The flexible LVT guide describes a separate approved self-adhesive underlay method. That is a different installation route, not permission to add a layer beneath LayRed.

When comparing advice, check the document title and the product named in it. Similar branding across accessories is not sufficient evidence of interchangeability.

What should I ask before fitting?

  • Does the product already have an attached layer?
  • Which dated installation guide applies?
  • What preparation is needed for this particular base?
  • Does the proposed floor build-up meet the project’s separate heating or acoustic requirements?

If extra underlay has already been fitted, retain the product labels and ask the installer or manufacturer to review the build-up. This answer does not diagnose the floor or prescribe a repair without inspection.
