FLOORDESIGNS / QUESTION & ANSWER

Can you use a steam mop on Moduleo flooring?

For an unidentified Moduleo floor, use the approved non-steam cleaning method. The manufacturer’s general webpage advises against steam; its linked leaflet and March 2026 terms describe a conditional LayRed exception. That is not permission for Roots, Moods, every older LayRed installation or an unapproved appliance.

Why the published advice needs care

The general care webpage advises against steam appliances. The linked Maintenance matters leaflet, page 8 permits conditional use on LayRed with a covering cloth and low power. The March 2026 warranty, page 4 also makes a LayRed-specific exception; other vinyl floors are excluded.

These sources should not be collapsed into “all Moduleo can be steam-cleaned” or “every Moduleo product has identical care rules”. The collection, purchase documentation and applicable instructions matter.

What should I do while checking?

Use the non-steam method approved for the identified floor. Our recommendation is to obtain written confirmation before changing to steam, particularly for an older installation or where the documents supplied with the flooring say something different.

Send the product code, collection, purchase or production details and the steam appliance information. Ask which manufacturer instruction takes precedence and retain the answer with your care record.

Does a waterproof description settle it?

No. A description of water resistance is not, by itself, an instruction for a particular cleaning appliance. Check the care guidance and the applicable warranty conditions as separate documents rather than treating one marketing word as permission.

This article deliberately does not provide a universal steam-cleaning procedure. The source conflict and product applicability must be resolved first.

What if steam has already been used?

Pause steam use while you identify the floor and instructions. Record the appliance, setting, cleaning product and method used. If you notice a change, photograph it alongside the wider area and ask the supplier or installer to assess it.

Do not assume that prior use proves compatibility, or that it automatically establishes damage or invalidates every possible claim. Those are questions for the facts and applicable terms.

Discuss your floor, not just a product name

Bring your collection and product code, a room sketch and the questions you still need answered. This makes a more useful conversation than asking whether an entire brand is right for every room.
