FLOORDESIGNS / CLEANING & CARE
Can you use a steam mop on Amtico flooring?
No. Amtico advises against steam cleaners on its flooring because intense heat may damage the tiles or cause the adhesive to fail. Use the cleaning method recommended for your Amtico collection.
What should I use instead?
Amtico’s cleaning guidance recommends a soft brush for loose dirt and cleaning with its recommended floorcare products. Follow the current care guide and the product’s dilution instructions.
Before buying a cleaner, identify the collection and check its instructions. Do not assume that a method shown for a different floor, or described as suitable for “hard floors”, has been approved for your Amtico product.
Does a waterproof description make steam cleaning safe?
It does not override the manufacturer’s care instructions. For Amtico, the relevant instruction remains to avoid steam cleaning. Product descriptions and cleaning permissions answer different questions.
What if I have already used a steam mop?
Stop using steam and keep a record of the product, cleaner, equipment and method used. If you are concerned about a change in appearance or a loose edge, send photographs to the retailer or installer and ask for advice before applying another treatment.
A description alone is not enough to diagnose damage or decide whether a warranty applies. Keep your invoice and care documents available for that discussion.
Our practical checklist
- Find the product or collection name.
- Read the current manufacturer care guide.
- Check the cleaner’s label and dilution directions.
- Ask before treating an unidentified floor or a persistent mark.
