What does engineered Havwoods wood flooring mean?
An engineered floor has a layered construction with a real wood face on a supporting structure. The exact layers and usable wear layer vary by product. Havwoods HW8707 Earth is a specific three-layer Douglas Fir example.
Does Havwoods have extra-wide long boards?
Yes. The published Earth Douglas Fir HW8707 is approximately 340 mm wide and 4000 mm long. That specification belongs to HW8707; other Havwoods products and collections use different lengths, widths and formats.
Can I install Havwoods over underfloor heating?
Some Havwoods products may be compatible, but the answer depends on the named board, its construction, substrate and maximum heating temperatures. Obtain the manufacturer’s approved installation and heating instructions before choosing one.
What is the difference between Havwoods oak and Douglas Fir?
The species have different grain, colour and physical characteristics. Compare the actual engineered construction, grade, board size, finish and manufacturer-approved use rather than treating every timber floor as interchangeable.
Can I sand and refinish a Havwoods floor?
Only when the exact construction and wear layer permit it. A timber appearance does not establish sanding eligibility. Confirm the manufacturer’s current finishing advice and consult a qualified professional.
Should Havwoods planks be glued or floated?
Installation is product-specific. The HW8707 Earth reference lists glue-down, but this cannot be assumed for another Havwoods floor. Check the exact board’s instructions and subfloor preparation requirements.
Why does a wide plank change the installation quote?
Long and wide planks affect delivery, handling, subfloor flatness, cutting and threshold details. A proper quote uses the selected product’s dimensions plus the room plan, not only a £/m² material figure.
How should I clean a real wood floor?
Follow the exact Havwoods surface finish guidance. Remove abrasive dirt regularly and avoid excess moisture or incompatible chemicals. Lacquered and oiled surfaces should not automatically receive identical treatment.
