ELKA Flooring: questions and answers
ELKA’s range includes engineered real wood, laminate and luxury vinyl flooring. These systems may achieve similar timber-look interiors, but differ in construction, subfloor requirements, installation and long-term care.
Is ELKA flooring all real wood?
No. ELKA lists engineered wood, laminate and LVT families. They can look similar in photographs but use different constructions and have distinct fitting and care requirements.
Can I fit ELKA flooring in a kitchen?
Start with the exact floor type and product’s moisture suitability. Verify its requirements for spills, subfloor and edges; do not assume an engineered wood product follows LVT water-resistance rules.
Does ELKA LVT have its own installation instructions?
Yes. The manufacturer’s technical centre lists LVT data sheets, installation guidance and warranty material, including separate information for herringbone formats. Match the document to the SKU.
Can ELKA be installed over underfloor heating?
Compatibility depends on the actual material, heating system and maximum surface temperature. Read both the ELKA technical instructions and the heating manufacturer’s requirements.
Do I need extra underlay beneath an ELKA floor?
Possibly, but the answer is product-specific. Check any integrated backing and the approved installation system; additional underlay can conflict with manufacturer requirements.
What is included in an ELKA fitted quotation?
It should specify the selected floor, pack coverage and quantity, subfloor preparation, permitted underlay/adhesive, profiles, labour, waste and VAT. Discuss layout changes before the price is finalised.
Does ELKA LVT's total thickness identify its wear layer?
No. Check the wear-layer entry in the correct technical sheet.
ELKA publishes separate LVT construction sheets, including 4+1 and 5+1 versions. Compare the named product's fields rather than interpreting total depth as surface-layer thickness.
Is the Elka Rigid TDS a rigid-vinyl flooring specification?
The technical index places it under the rigid-adhesive documents.
Use the LVT product sheet for flooring construction and the adhesive document for that fixing product. The word Rigid alone is not enough to match a file.
How should I choose a cleaner for an ELKA floor?
Match the cleaner's instructions to the floor's material and finish.
ELKA lists an all-purpose cleaner for specified flooring and finishes. Confirm the exact application instructions before use, including for an oiled wood surface.
Why record ELKA timber grade as well as the colour?
Grade helps identify the permitted natural character of the wood.
ELKA's technical resources include timber-grading documents. Review the applicable grade alongside a sample; a colour image does not describe the whole installed appearance.
Can I assume an ELKA residential warranty covers a commercial project?
Confirm the intended use and the applicable warranty in writing.
ELKA provides a separate commercial-warranty request route. Keep the response with the exact product and project specification.
Which ELKA documents should stay with the fitted floor?
Keep the exact product sheet, fitting instructions, care guidance and applicable terms.
Record the substrate preparation and accessories actually used. A general brochure should supplement these records rather than identify the installation system.
