COREtec: questions and answers
COREtec offers multi-layer click luxury-vinyl flooring, including the Authentics family. Confirm the specific model, construction, plank size, integrated backing and the manufacturer’s installation details before estimating an entire room.
Is COREtec the same as ordinary laminate flooring?
COREtec Authentics is marketed as a multi-layer resilient vinyl floor, not a conventional laminate construction. Compare the specific materials, backing, cleaning and installation instructions instead of using ‘wood look’ as a technical category.
Does COREtec Authentics already include underlay?
Selected references such as Alto and Calgary specify attached cork underlayment. Do not add a second underlay until the installation documentation explicitly permits it for your model and substrate.
Are COREtec floors waterproof?
The manufacturer describes named Authentics products as waterproof, but the assembled room still needs correct installation and control of underlying moisture or leaks. Check bathroom and kitchen suitability and the applicable warranty details.
Can COREtec be used over underfloor heating?
COREtec offers an underfloor-heating guidance document. Check the selected floor, system type, maximum surface temperature, substrate and commissioning requirements before approval.
Can COREtec be fitted on stairs?
Only with a manufacturer-approved stair detail and competent installer. Verify compatible nosings, edge safety and any separate stairs instructions for the exact model.
How many boxes will I need?
Calculate from the measured layout plus required cuts, then round up to the actual pack coverage for your SKU. The manufacturer’s product pages show model-specific coverage; one box value cannot be used universally.
Can I clean COREtec with a steam mop?
COREtec's UK-facing FAQ advises against steam mops.
Remove grit first; follow the named product's guide for permitted damp cleaning.
Why can a mop-and-shine product leave COREtec looking dull?
COREtec warns that polish or detergent residue can affect appearance.
Use pH-neutral cleaning; check suitability before applying another product.
Which entrance-mat backings should I avoid on COREtec?
The FAQ advises avoiding latex or rubber backing directly on the floor.
Choose a compatible mat and non-staining furniture protectors.
Does a stable COREtec floor still need expansion space?
Yes. COREtec's FAQ still requires space at boundaries.
Use the exact installation guide for the product, perimeter and transitions. Stability does not remove the need for the prescribed fitting details.
Can COREtec's waterproof claim be used to justify an outdoor floor?
No. COREtec identifies its flooring as an interior product.
The FAQ excludes outdoor installation from warranty cover. Assess the actual room and installation conditions before selecting the product.
How should I move heavy furniture over new COREtec flooring?
Protect the surface during the move.
COREtec recommends plywood or heavy cardboard when moving heavy objects. Plan the route and lifting method before placing the furniture.
