Burmatex: questions and answers

Burmatex manufactures commercial textile flooring including carpet tiles, planks, sheet carpet and entrance products. For an office, school, entrance or shared building, specify the actual format and performance evidence before selecting the design.

Are Burmatex 7700 Grimebuster sheets and Grimebuster 50 tiles identical?

No. Burmatex lists separate sheet and tile formats and issues product-specific technical data. Their dimensions, backing and reported performance details should be checked against the intended variant rather than assumed to be interchangeable.

Which Burmatex floor is suitable for a busy entrance?

Start with the specified traffic, moisture tracked in from outside, cleaning regime and matwell geometry. Compare named entrance-matting products and retain their current testing evidence before the project team approves one.

Can carpet tiles be replaced individually?

Modular carpet tiles can make localised replacement more practical, provided spare product and the correct batch/colour are available. Plan laying direction and any adhesive system so repairs do not undermine appearance or performance.

Do all Burmatex products have the same fire classification?

No. Product form and tested construction matter. The supplier’s technical documentation distinguishes sheet and tile entries. A commercial specifier should check the current classification relevant to the final material and installation.

Can commercial flooring be installed while a building stays open?

Often a staged installation can be planned, but the installer must review access, dust, adhesives, curing periods, furniture moves and safety controls. The schedule should be agreed with the building operator before work starts.

What should a Burmatex project quotation include?

Identify range, colour, tile or sheet format, installation layout, measured quantity, substrate preparation, adhesive, trims, labour, access assumptions and waste. Request current product and warranty documentation for the precise specification.

Can Burmatex carpet tiles go over an old carpet or vinyl?

Burmatex's fitting guidance excludes existing soft floor coverings as a base.

Remove the old covering and assess the exposed subfloor before specification. A surface that looks smooth can still need preparation.

Can different Burmatex dye batches share one continuous floor?

Burmatex instructs installers to keep a floor within one batch.

Check carton batch numbers before laying and reserve matching spare tiles. Separate deliveries need checking before they are mixed.

Should every Burmatex tile face the same direction?

The permitted layout depends on the selected product.

Some designs allow broadloom or quarter-turn layouts; others have a more restricted recommendation. Agree the layout from that range's specification.

Are IOBAC MagTabs and Tab-It interchangeable for Burmatex?

They are different fixing systems with different subfloor requirements.

Burmatex describes MagTabs for magnetically receptive bases and Tab-It for prepared subfloors. Obtain the correct system specification for the site.

When should a Burmatex maintenance plan start?

Arrange routine cleaning from the start of the installation's use.

Burmatex links appearance to regular care and prompt spill response. Assign responsibility for entrances and busy routes instead of waiting for widespread soiling.

What should a Burmatex project handover retain?

Keep the named product, batch, approved fixing system and care documents.

Retain the installation record and maintenance schedule with any project-specific warranty terms. A commercial classification alone does not state the whole warranty.
