The cost of a new floor may involve fitting and work to the subfloors. If your planning to install your new floor yourself (DIY) always check before you buy to ensure your finances will stretch to include costs:

• Carpet needs underlay, concrete or stone floors may need sealing.
• If the surface on which you’re laying your new floor (sub floor) isn’t completely smooth and flat , boards may have to be laid to level it out or concrete screeding may need to be applied.
• Before you put down any new floor, check for damp or for woodworm in floorboards and get it treated.
