Design in more than one direction.
A straight plank, herringbone layout or stone-effect tile can change the scale and movement of a room. Compare the actual formats and samples, and consider how the floor will meet adjoining spaces.
Choose the installation system as well as the colour.
Glue-down and click products have different installation requirements. The existing subfloor, finished height, heating system and manufacturer’s instructions all need to be checked for the product you choose.
A good quotation includes preparation.
Ask about subfloor condition, moisture assessment where required, preparation materials, trims and fitting. A product price per square metre is only one part of the complete installation cost.
Questions, answered
Before you choose.
Can LVT go over my existing floor?
Sometimes, but it depends on the existing floor, subfloor and chosen system. A site assessment and the product’s installation instructions should determine the preparation.
Is every LVT suitable for underfloor heating?
Do not assume so. Check the exact product, heating system and manufacturer’s temperature and installation limits before specifying it.
