Karndean’s Luxury Vinyl Flooring (LVF) range is chock-full of gorgeous, unique designs, but perhaps the quaintest – and fans of that old-world feel will agree – is the Michelangelo range. Named after the brilliant Italian artist and sculptor, the collection boasts floors in stone, mosaic and pebbled finishes, styles which typified Mediterranean design throughout the era in which Michelangelo lived and created. So if you enjoy a modern twist on classic materials, this range is for you.

One of the most popular designs within this range is Catalonian granite, which couples pebbles with a light grey concrete effect backdrop. It is purposely created to appear highly realistic, tactile and attractive all in one.

A lot of home owners choose Michelangelo for bathrooms, particularly the mosaic prints, but why not consider them for conservatories, kitchens or other rooms where you want to make a statement? The Ancient Onyx design, for example, is one design that would work just as well outside the bathroom as in it. It brings a delicate tone to individually contoured fragments of mosaic effect. You could also consider applying a bold border for a really pronounced finishing touch.

Another design within the range with huge appeal is Atomic Steel. The design was intended to depart from the classic black tile look by adding a raised steel effect. This look takes its inspiration from modern architectural trends which tastefully incorporate industrial and metallic looks. This tile is creatively versatile, and can be coupled with white or cream tiles to create a checkerboard effect with a difference.

The Adriatic Sea is synonymous with beautiful blue – think sapphire, cobalt, indigo, turquoise, aquamarine and royal blue. The blue end of the spectrum is brilliantly represented by this Mediterranean stretch of water in a unique and distinguished way – which is why it provided the inspiration for the range of floors from which its name is inspired.

Karndean’s Adriatic Blue brings beautifully rich midnight blue tones to a convincing mosaic effect, creating a vibrant and luxurious effect for your home. As with all of the Italian Mosaic tiles in the range, each individual fragment is contoured to create a realism and texture that also feels great underfoot.

All of the floors above can be accentuated, tailored and embellished with accessories like strips and borders. This allows you to personalise your floor to create one that’s never been made before.

A grout effect design strip in between stone effect vinyl floor tiles can be used to further mimic the look of real stone. Vinyl grout effect strips have major advantages over grout – they don’t discolor with age and are supplied at the same depth as your main floor, providing for a smoother surface.
You can also use design strips as borders around the edge of your room or around a key feature – perhaps a fireplace or kitchen island unit. These extras are a small addition that make an extraordinary difference to the end result and come hugely recommended.
